We believe that the staff and in particular the doctors of IVF Spain are both unprofessional and lack compassion and concern for patients. We underwent five previous fertility treatments, four in the United States, and one in the Czech Republic, and with each failure, our physician either reached out by email, phone, or we met face to face to discuss the results. Since we found out that the pregnancy test was negative, we have yet to hear from Dr. Szlarb or any of the medical doctors on staff at IVF Spain. Instead non-medical staff is disseminating medical information. This is truly heartbreaking and somewhat unethical.

I have thought long and hard about this review but I have no option but to warn people. We have had two cycles with ivf spain, the first time resulted in an eptopic pregnancy these things happen. The second time failed, the reason for the failure was low progesterone, the first time this was managed but the second time the didn't even test me until the day of transfer. I asked for the results but the nurse never told me so I presumed it was ok. The nursing care is lacking for the day of transfer I never even got a drink after the procedure my husband was going to go and buy me one but the lovely acupuncturist got me one. There was no post transfer checks by the nursing staff no one even asked if I was ok. On the day of the results I asked to see a doctor this was not offered to me, the doctor advised that I had failed and my progesterone was only half what it should be, I explained that I had asked the nurse and she said if I was concerned I should have spoken to her and that I should have been more proactive. I was being blamed when I felt bad enough already. The week of my transfer a German tv crew were filming and that seemed much more important than me or my husband. Now I am emailing them every day for blood test results for my gynaecologist at home and they won't give them to me and ignore my emails. After spending over €20,000 I have nothing to show and the clinic did not look after my best interests. Please before using this clinic think carefully and make sure you know about the IVF blood tests, I didn't and it cost me the chance of motherhood.

We found it troubling that news of viable blastocysts available on day five were discussed only moments before our scheduled transfer. We had a transfer time of 12 p.m., and therefore, the clinic had ample time to discuss the status of our embryos. Instead, Dr. Herrera and Ms. Van Os walked into our room announcing that there was one viable blastocyst for transfer. These conversations should not have occurred at this moment. It turned what should have been a positive and hopeful day into an absolute nightmare. Instead we were fighting and pleading our desire to transfer two embryos with Dr. Herrera and Ms. Van Os moments before the scheduled procedure.

What makes this clinic so special is beyond words but I can name a few practical ways too. Firstly, the way they spoke to us was so special and forward-thinking. It was as if they were trained in NLP as they never doubted that we would be pregnant from the outset. Secondly, they treated us so differently from any clinic in the UK (where we were told on numerous occasions that we were too old and that it would probably never work). Also, they were so precise and thorough with our treatment, pinpointing the exact minute of insemination based on months of careful work on their part. Most importantly for us, Dr. Alicia Alvarez is by far the most incredible doctor who we have ever had the fortune to meet and who we now respect intensely. After fifteen years of trying to have a baby we only wished we had come to them first as we would have saved a lifetime of disappointment as well as a small fortune. We simply cannot wait to get pregnant again and would never ever consider going anywhere else. They are like our extended family in every way.

First, is the lack of explanation or clarity as to what IVF Spain’s policy is for the number of embryos it will transfer to egg donor recipients. This ambiguity was a source of great stress and anxiety for us both. We incorrectly assumed, based on the document, “Receipt of Oocytes Informative Document and Consent Form,” that IVF Spain allows the transfer of three embryos. We soon found out that this was not the case. We were under the impression that transferring three embryos was a viable option. We inquired and stated our desire several times by email, phone and on retrieval day. Each response was vague, and failed to address why the clinic chose to ignore its written policy.

There are a few seminal moments that continue to envelop our lives. We felt it important to highlight these, in the hopes that future patients do not have the same experiences while undergoing treatment at IVF Spain.

One of the biggest challenges of going overseas for fertility treatment is learning to adapt to cultural differences. We did not anticipate or ever get used to the fact that IVF Spain employs individuals in is international department that are not proficient in both spoken and written English. Nor were we comfortable with unclear and vague instructions. Furthermore, there were often long delays in responses to questions posed. Normally this was acceptable, but not when it pertained to medication and prescriptions.

We truly regret our decision to come to IVF Spain. The entire experience was a nightmare. We are both extremely upset by the level of unprofessionalism and poor treatment by a clinic that we perceived to be top notch in Europe. When we chose IVF Spain, it was after months of research and positive reviews. Clearly, we were misled, as it appears to both of us that IVF Spain is simply a fertility factory more concerned about statistics than their patients well being.

Highly recommend this clinic! After a long journey and many unsuccessful treatments in the UK, we decided to go to Spain to fulfill our dream. A friend of mine recommended the fertility clinic IVF Spain, I felt that the clinic was really considerate to our needs. They were really thorough and they promised a tailored treatment and thats exactly what we got. I have immunolgy issues and found it difficult back home getting the right kind of help with this but they treated me for this without any problems. I am now 22 weeks pregnant with a big surprise on the way (we don´t know the sex) and we couldn´t be more grateful!

It is unacceptable to market your clinic to English speaking countries, when the staff in the international department lacks language proficiency.

We were extremely disappointed with our experience at IVF Spain in Alicante, Spain. Since the day we paid our deposit on November 14, 2017, for the Egg Donor Exclusive Package, customer service deteriorated rapidly. We understood that coming to another country could present challenges, but never could anticipate the stress and anxiety we experienced at the hands of IVF Spain.

We couldn’t wait to review IVF Spain for so many reasons. Not only did they succeed in making me pregnant but the journey to get there was wonderful thanks to them.

From the moment when we entered the beautiful clinic in Alicante to the friendly and knowledgeable staff we never once doubted that we were in the best IVF clinic in the world.
